Oofta! 🎯 When the first thing on your list is... to make the darn list.
Does anyone else ever feel so overwhelmed that the first thing on their To-Do list is to...
✨ Write an all-inclusive, (maybe) color-coded, perfectly organized To-Do list? ✨
Asking for a friend who:
Started folding laundry but then remembered it might be a great time to...
Get dinner prepped early, but then spotted her computer and...
Logged on “just for a sec” to send those three high priority emails but instead...
Got sucked into the black hole of 100 open tabs:
That genius holiday gift idea 🎁
The article about ditching black plastic kitchen tools (and finding chic replacements) 🍴
A holiday recipe that must happen this year 🍪
RSVP-ing to a birthday invite 🎉
Planning her own kid’s birthday party 🎂
Contemplating hosting a Pinterest-worthy Advent calendar project with moms, but really it would just be a fun way to do something she's already doing with others spreading kindness... but WHEN TF could that happen 🎄
Christmas caroling? (Too much? Maybe magical? How could it be easy?) 🎶
That email from the kid’s teacher from last week 🫠
... And just like that, I realized something as I tornado-spun through my mental checklist:
🚨 Stop the spin. 🚨
It’s me. (Not my friend. Spoiler alert.)
And if it’s me, as an engaged working mom doing life, I bet it’s you, too.
So, I paused. Took a breath. (Okay, maybe a few breaths.)
Because let’s be real: life has been life-ing HARD lately. This week. This month. Parts of this whole year!
But here’s what I also know:
You’re doing a good job.
No, wait—scratch that.
You’re doing an amazing job.
Even when the laundry piles up. Even when dinner ends up being breakfast (again). Even when the emails are sitting in your inbox longer than you want. Even when you can't get that incredibly thoughtful gift in the mail or host that magical party...
You are running a train that’s somehow still on the tracks, with everyone on board mostly fed and accounted for. That’s superhero-level stuff right there. 💪✨
So, while that To-Do list can wait a little longer, don’t forget to do this:
👏 Recognize yourself.
👏 Recognize the other women in your life who are also quietly holding it all together.
Pass it on. Seriously. Send this to a friend who needs a reminder:
They’re doing f’ing amazing, too.
And with that, no joke, the laundry bell just dinged. 🧺
Excuse me while I move the clothes to the dryer—and maybe don’t fold them right away this time, adding them to the gigantic pile (I'll post a pic on social for ya). 😉
Lots of love and high fives and cartwheels for all you do!
