Election Day Feels? Let’s Keep It Steady, Friends

It’s Election Day, which means… high emotions, big opinions, and maybe an extra-large coffee for the ride.

Whether you’re excited, anxious, or just counting down to the post-election memes, here’s a little reminder: let’s keep it steady. Remember the big picture and MLK's beautiful long arc bending toward justice.

Despite my utter shock at one of the Presidential candidates even being an option, this morning I wrote notes in my kids' lunchboxes, reminding them (and maybe myself too), of the bigger picture and the privilege it is to vote.

And while I don’t know what kind of world it’ll be when they cast their first votes in 2032 and 2036, I'm choosing hope—no matter what happens today.

For now, an invitation to join me in taking a deep breath (or two), and remember the things we can control. We can’t change the outcome by worrying or getting into debates that spiral off track, but we can keep our own vibe grounded—and maybe even lighthearted.  Think of it as a “choose-your-own-mood” day—where you decide what energy you bring to your words, conversations, and (yes) even your thoughts.

Here’s the mission, should you choose to accept it: speak with calm, share with hope, and laugh with the lightness we want to see more of. You’d be surprised how contagious that is! We may not be able to change every big thing on our own, but we can keep this day filled with good vibes and humor... which in and of itself IS a powerful regenerative energy source.

Tomorrow, with more clarity, we will rise in integrity and support our communities however we can.

Regardless of the outcome, there’s work to be done, and we’ll need to keep working together to create the world we want—for ourselves and for our kids.

No matter who wins, we get to choose how we treat each other, how we lift each other up, and how we move forward together.

So today, take that steady breath, laugh where you can, and let’s hold onto hope. The future’s a team effort!

With you,
Abbey
