Transform Your Mornings, Transform Your Life

Do you ever wake up feeling like you’re already behind?

Jim Rohn famously said: “Either you run the day, or the day runs you.”

If you’ve taken my Core Four course, or learned about the life-changing adjustments I made to my morning routine through one of my workshops or 1:1 sessions, you’d know that in the past, my day would absolutely run me… I never knew a different way.

  • In college, I was oblivious to starting my day intentionally. 🤭

  • In my 20s, I was captive to my first blackberry with global overnight communications; I woke up with a long list of things to do and fast typing fingers to respond. 😟

  • In my early 30s, I was waking up to crying babies (after not sleeping much anyway). 😮‍💨

Even though I’ve been passionate about how to be my best self for as long as I can remember, I never woke up thinking about starting my day intentionally.

And - spoiler alert, it's now such a joyful practice... I crave it!

I realized that I could meet others’ needs before my own for a while, but if it lasted too long, I got exhausted, burnt out and eventually resentful... feeling less like myself.

As cliche as it is, I was pouring from an empty cup

Out of desire and necessity, I learned to fill my cup first thing in the morning, and doing so allowed me to show up softer, calmer and more present for myself AND others.

Over the years, I’ve learned a plethora of tools that support, nourish, and elevate my mornings and I choose different ones depending on the day.

Some of my morning activities include:

  1. Drinking water right away - sometimes with lemon or apple cider vinegar

  2. Free Writing in a journal

  3. Reading a motivating or thought-provoking book

  4. Visualizing my day and how I want to show up

  5. Stepping outside for some fresh air and deep breaths, reciting (and feeling) a meaningful mantra

Whether you’ve got emails or slack messages to attend to, a child needing your attention, or people asking for your time and opinions, if it’s all taking your attention right away and you're caught in the chaos... I'm sorry friend, but your day is running you.

It can be dizzying to figure out how YOU want to start your day and what will make an impact but I invite you to try something different.

The way you start your morning sets the tone for the rest of your day.

And how you live your day is how you live your life.

Maybe set some bedtime intentions the night before, wake up with a plan to connect with your needs first, perhaps try one of the above tools or research your own, and see how this simple practice can elevate your day.

By making small, intentional changes to your routine, you can reclaim your mornings, boost your energy, and be more present for the moments that matter.

If you enjoyed these insights and ideas, please pass them along to someone else who might appreciate them and hit reply to let me know so I can send more emails like this!

Lotsa Love!
