Finding Unity in Unexpected Places

Over the past week, I spent time with family members who hold completely different views on our nation’s future.

I’ve got to be honest, it’s tough to celebrate our country when these conversations raise my blood pressure, ramp up my irritation, and leave me sad and even speechless.

We’re rarely together, but this week we gathered to honor someone we lost far too soon—a beloved husband, father, and friend whose absence will be deeply felt

In our divided nation, it can be challenging to connect with people whose values clash with our own.

But this week, something profound happened. We united through our shared love for someone special.

It reminded me that beneath all the noise, there’s a deeper connection that can bring us together.

So, I’m on a mission this 4th of July week. I’m seeking conversations that unite, finding reasons to be grateful—whether it’s time outside, moments with family, or celebrating life’s fleeting joys.

For even a moment, let’s shift our focus from division to connection, from frustration to understanding, from "againstness" to healing.

When we look beyond our differences and embrace the shared moments that matter, we find a common ground that’s stronger than any disagreement.

And from this place, maybe we can find some solutions.

Here’s to finding unity, even in the most unexpected places.

Lotsa love to you all,
Abbey
