6 Steps to Realizing A Clear Vision

Have you ever done a visioning exercise?  I went through one recently and it was such a powerful experience I wanted to pass it along to all of you!

It gave me the opportunity to step away, sit quietly, and intentionally think ahead utilizing the conscious and subconscious mind. When I think about how busy life is, that alone was a gift!

Here are 6 Steps You Can Take for a Clear Vision:

  1. TIME.  Set aside some time when you are fresh (for me this is in the morning), and can be alone to do some quiet thinking.

  2. DEFINE AREAS OF YOUR LIFE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU.  Decide what you want to spend time thinking about:  Your friendships? Your relationship?  Your Health?  Your home?  Your career?  What do you want to get really clear on?

  3. STEP INTO YOUR UNCONSCIOUS MIND and VISUALIZE. Let your mind and consciousness go.  Go to the clouds and drop back down to earth exactly 5 years ahead and notice everything around you.  Using the qualities you defined as most important in step 2, visualize what the best representation and fullest expression of you looks like, 5 years ahead.  What appears?  How do you feel?  What is present in your life?

  4. WRITE IT DOWN.  Try to get specific and write down what you saw for each part of your life that you wanted to examine.  What did each area look like?  How did you feel?

  5. ACTIONABLE GOALS.  With that larger longer-term vision in mind, break down those qualities and goals that you saw into what that would look like one year from now, 3 months from now, 1 month from now.  And then, getting actionable, what do you need to do in each area of your life to realize those dreams, this week.

  6. WEEKLY GOALS.  With that monthly goal from step 5, every Sunday or Monday or whatever day of the week works for you, refer back to that monthly goal and write specific weekly goals for each area of your life.  And then monthly, review your 3 month and annual goal, and create new monthly goals that align as you go.  Rinse and repeat.

This activity, particularly the last step, can feel repetitive and monotonous... but it works.  If those areas of your life really matter, and you really want to see change, this consistent application will allow your goals to become real, and your vision to come to fruition.  If you think you’ll have trouble, grab a friend and do this together!
